THE GONG BATH:

THE HEALING SOUND OF THE GONG

There is no question that sound has a powerful effect on every level of our being.  The vibration of a gong is a powerful method for reducing stress.

Why the term “Gong Bath?”  Water has often been used as an analogy for the rippling effect of the gongs vibrations, partially because our bodies are approximately 70 percent water and water serves to conduct sound waves. So, just like ripples on a pond are created by a pebble skipped across the surface, the gongs sound gently reverberates or you might say “ripples” over, around and through the entire body to calm, relax and soothe.

Like the ocean waves that build in intensity and then reach a crescendo as they crash against rocks and cliffs or on the sandy beach … and then the waves settle and hush … the sound quietens as the water withdraws back to the ocean … in the same way the gong creates an ocean of sound that builds to a crescendo to then withdraw into quieter tones.  It is profoundly relaxing; a state which activates the parasympathetic nervous system to balance the  over-taxed sympathetic nervous system.

The gong induces a holistic resonance in the body and a spontaneous meditative state in the mind, resulting in a sense of expanded awareness and wholeness

YOGA NIDRA :

Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) is a therapeutic relaxing experience where we learn to be awake yet asleep.

Due to the unique yoga nidra guided meditation Nita-Rose learned while being in retreat with the Zen Master Thich Nhat Hahn, coupled with the sonic vibration of the gong this approach to Yoga Nidra provides a profound experience and an opportunity for deep healing

Yoga Nidra is an invitation to come home to the present moment and connect in deep gratitude to your precious, human body.

Yoga Nidra helps us to travel within where we experience our infinite, invisible soul essence, and from this place of the infinite knowing, we bring a loving awareness to our finite, physical existence.

The goal is greater appreciation and inner awareness of the body, our states of consciousness, and how the mind manages the body.

Benefits include relaxation of the heart, skeletal muscles, and nervous system, reduction of stress and stress-related diseases, and a deep, conscious and therapeutic, restorative rest.
